Gandhi Trust having its headquarters at Ammapet in Thanjavur district is now having its activities at Chennai is headed by Sasirekha Gandhi.

     Sasirekha Gandhi belonging to Ammapet in Thanjavur district is working as journalist for the past eight years is having the aim of serving the people through this Trust.

     Main aim of this Trust is to upgrade government school on par with private school. In this attempt the Trust adopted a Panchayat Union Primary School at Olathevarayanpettai near Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district.

     As part of this programme, the Trust provided notebooks for the students from first standard to fifth standard apart from school uniforms, plates and other essential things to the students so that their standard of education improves much better.

     Further the Trust have selected students belonging to poor families hailing from villages and provided necessary assistance. The Trust also conducted variety entertainment, sports and oratorical competitions in various schools thus increasing the knowledge of the students.

     It is to be pointed that the main target of the Trust is to prove that Government Schools are the only institution for the good education after going round all the schools in the Villages of Tamil Nadu.

   Further the Trust has launched a website during last year called tamilsigaram.com so that the activities of the Trust are spread very fast throughout the world. At present this website have got one lakh hits and its readership is more than ten thousand.
